“A positive critique regarding Dr. David Ray Griffin’s 2004 book, “THE NEW

PEARL HARBOR.”

After personally investigating the events of 9/11 for the last three years or

so, using many different forms of communication materials from varied sources, I came upon a comprehensive “measured & methodical” account as to why Americans need to call for a FULL INVESTIGATION into exactly what transpired on that fateful day- but more importantly, what could happen if Americans do not investigate this event more fully!

IMAGINE YOURSELF, not simply as an American, but a member of a sequestered Grand Jury who is called to determine if certain people in high places need to be held more accountable for their words & actions on that fateful day. This is exactly what Dr. Griffin has done in this book, after he methodically examined the potential deficiencies of the 9/11 COMMISSION REPORT, which he examines in detail in the CONCLUSION of the above-cited book.

I was impressed initially with Dr. Griffin when I saw his presentation as part

of a free DVD called, “9/11: CONFRONTING THE EVIDENCE” as well as a recent April/May, 2005 speech he had given that was broadcast and rebroadcast on C-SPAN. [Dr. Griffin is currently a Professor of Philosophy of Religion at the Claremont School of Theology in California for over 30 years. He is the author and editor of more than 20 books.]

SO WHY READ ANOTHER REHASHING OF THE 9/11 STORY?

Writing from my own personal point of view, it is simple! You may learn

something about the world you think you know, after you can surmise how these extraordinary pieces of the convoluted and confusing puzzle start coming together. [Don’t get stuck on the minor details.] The KEY word is METHODICAL ~ where the book is only divided into three sections:

1) Griffin takes us through the details of each of the four flights on 9/11,

and the strange & unusual actions of the President from the time he had heard of the first plane crash into the North Tower, and all the subsequent actions that day, where acting like a COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF seemed like the last thing on his mind

2) Then the author paints an interesting picture THE LARGER CONTEXT that I dare say many Americans reading this book, and only being vaguely aware of geo-politics, would find EXTREMELY INTERESTING, especially as seen in the light of the activities of all sorts of people and agencies and foreign elements; the surprising connections of some of these foreign elements to the Bush family (both father and son) is somehow – beyond coincidence!

3) CONCLUSION is also very enlightening, especially – after digesting the

suggested data, one can (more or less) follow the author through the maze of “dot-connecting.” He also gives a detailed analysis as to why the so-called

9/11 COMMISSION REPORT was doomed to failure, due to certain Commission personnel (not necessarily all) and the restraints put on this same Commission, in regarding the scope of the investigation. THIS IS A REAL EYE-OPENER FOR ANYONE WITH EVEN A SLIGHTLY AJAR OPEN MIND!!!

If you are still NOT moved to pick up this book yet, let me paint you a mental

picture of the author right after 9/11 happened: Dr. Griffin admits that he

himself was (until the Spring of 2003, blissfully unaware of the serious allegations that were being addressed on the Internet, figuring that these same types of people must – perforce – be either “conspiracy theorists” or worse, “crackpots”! xviii He goes on to state on the same page that what turned his confined mental state around was an email from a fellow female professor whom Griffin had deemed to be “sensible” ~ so he took the time to investigate Paul Thompson’s massive timeline, “Was 9/11 Allowed to Happen?”

THE REST, AS THEY SAY, IS HISTORY!

Dr. Griffin was impressed with Thompson since he restricted himself to

mainline sources which were throwing a mighty light of doubt regarding the “official story” i.e. that Bush intentionally allowed the attacks of 9/11 happen From there he read a Gore Vidal book which pointed Griffin to a most influential book called, “The War on Freedom: How & Why America Was Attacked on September 11, 2001,” by Nafeez Ahmed, who, as Griffin stated, is an independent researcher in England. Ahmed, like Thompson, suggested that the events of 9/11 stemmed from “complicity in high places, not merely from incompetence in lower places.” xviii

Griffin clearly states, that armed with these two important sources, (among

others,) that it provided a ‘prima facie’ case for the contention that the events surrounding 9/11 warranted an extensive investigation by the American press, the U.S. Congress, and the 9/11 Independent Commission, all of which had operated under the “ASSUMPTION” that 9/11 was the result of intelligence & communication failures.

THE REST OF THIS BOOK SUGGESTS: “NOT SO!”

Since the details are so numerous – suggesting that the events of 9/11 are

well beyond strange & unusual coincidences, I will just give you some tidbits of just such “strange & unusual” occurrences that seem to go WAY BEYOND CHANCE…and even WAY BEYOND INCOMPETENCE.

DID YOU KNOW, FOR INSTANCE….

1) French researcher, Thierry Meyssan, stated frankly that the object that hit

the Pentagon could not have been a Boeing 757, but rather was hit by a missile? [The staggering details that back this up are in PART ONE, Chapter 2.]

2) That Flight 11 (that hit the North WTC Tower) should have been intercepted no later than 8:30 am, according to stated procedures of NORAD, since it takes one minute for the FAA to contact NORAD, and they can then scramble jets “within a matter of minutes to anywhere in the United States.” (?) [Chapter 1, pgs.4-5]

3) That NORAD should have intercepted United Airline Flight 175 [that hit the

South WTC Tower] no later than 8:53am, if normal procedures were followed? [p.7]

4) That NORAD “inexplicably” sent jets from Otis Air National Guard Base in

Cape Cod RATHER THAN from McGuire AF Base, which is only 70 miles from NYC, instead of the 180 miles from Otis? [p.9]

5) That there was specific evidence & witnesses to the concept that WTC

Buildings #s 1, 2 & 7 were brought down by “controlled demolition” and that numerous explosions were heard in Buildings 1 & 2? [pgs.12-23]

6) That Flight 93 had to have been “shot down” – and the reason postulated

was that the passengers may have retaken the jet, and there could be no witnesses to the event since the potential original plan had gone somewhat awry? All of Chapter 3

AND IF THIS IS NOT BAD ENOUGH, THERE IS SUPPORTING EVIDENCE

SUGGESTED…AS IN…

7) That Chapter 5 strongly suggests that FBI Director Robert Mueller lied when he stated about 9/11: “There was no warning sign that I am aware of that would indicate this type of operation in the country.” The remainder of the chapter sadly relates how he did everything he could to stop this information from becoming public while doing nothing to act on information that may have actually thwarted whatever actions were being planned…and the implications of this are – in a sense – frightening to contemplate, to say the least!

8) That the “culprit” Osama bin Laden could have been captured a number of

times, if the will was there to do it? [Chapter 6 explores all the

unbelievable connections (behind the scenes) that would indicate that bin Laden was “STILL” a CIA asset, just doing his job for some larger picture…that begs for an investigation! Two countries that highlight this potential future investigation would be the real connections between & among the Bush administration, “its buddy” oil rich Saudi Arabia, and another secret ally, CIA-directed Pakistan. These interconnections are

“necessary historical observations” which may make the implausible “official

story” of 9/11 more meaningful from a WIDER PERSPECTIVE!]

9) That the key hijacker (Mohamed Atta) may have “strangely” had the same type of connections to the above-cited countries as the Bush administration?!? [pgs.85-87]

10) That the “Pre-9/11 Plans to Attack Afghanistan” may have revolved around the so-called “CENTGAS” (a huge project of a consortium of oil companies…where strangely, some of the same suspects seem to pop-up who were connected with a possible 9/11 cover-up? [The details of this are outlined in Chapter 7, which leads to a very unsettling and disturbing implication. In particular, a document is cited (that I was heretofore unaware of) called, “Rebuilding America’s Defenses: Strategy, Forces, & Resources for a New Century.” It shows that the war in Afghanistan

had ALREADY BEEN PLANNED before 9/11; this document, coupled with the 1997 book by the former National Security Advisor, Zbigniew Brzezinski, called, “The Grand Chess Board: American Primacy and its Geostrategic Imperatives” seem to indicate clearly the plan of obtaining world domination in Eurasia by first securing the “vast oil reserves” of Central Asia. [p.95]

11) That to achieve this goal (as you will learn more clearly when you read

this book) it will necessitate a “NEW PEARL HARBOR” – [similar to what FDR did to get Americans to accept going into WW II…which partly explains the title of the book under review; this time, however, it has to do with the elimination of your cherished blood-drenched freedoms like the PATRIOT ACT, etc., which will mute any attempt to stop the engine of global takeover if & when it comes. REMEMBER, a NOT-SO-BENIGN-DICTATOR is a very difficult being to uproot!]

SOME CONCLUDING OBSERVATIONS BY DR. GRIFFIN

The main thrust of this book seems to be a gradual awakening to the

unfortunate fact that the very Commission the American people were to see assigned the task of “getting to the bottom” of the whys of so many strange coincidences and apparent massive incompetence, FAILED MISERABLY to address the major concerns of these same Americans (especially the families of those killed at the WTC.)

Dr. Griffin examines the reasons for this FAILURE in the chapter called, THE NEED FOR A FULL INVESTIGATION. (Incidentally, he does this after a thorough review of a summary of items that reflect “Complicity theory” as well as itemizing the evidence for “Coincidence theory” and some of the problems that each theory may entail; this is too lengthy to review here, but is another reason for reading the whole of this book.]

In any event, it is in Chapter 10 that we learn just why the “9/11 independent Commission” was not able to be effective ~~ even in its own limited restrained investigation. Griffin details the following obstacles (which I will only list here):

a) They didn’t have near enough money (relative to other important

investigations) to do an adequate job [p.149]

b) They had difficulty getting needed documents that they had requested;

apparently the Bush administration felt NO NEED to be fully cooperative, and

George Bush refused to testify under oath! [p.150]

c) The Commission was authorized only on condition that the scope was limited to how to prevent similar breakdowns in the future. Anyone could see that if culpability was found within the scope of the investigation, NOTHING COULD BE DONE ABOUT IT!!!

d) People who were put in power to determine what would or would not be

subject to subpoena (like Philip Zelikow as Executive Director of the Committee,) who himself had severe conflict of interests, being closely connected to the Bush administration. [p.153] (Talk about a stacked deck!)

e) Max Cleland, a Democrat and former Senator, was so disgusted with the

restraints put on the Committee, that he actually labeled relationships with

the White House as “ridiculous” & “a bad deal.” [p.155]

By the end of the book, Dr. David Griffin labeled the Commission as “the 9/11 Cover-up Commission” and called for a fuller investigation, by citing “9/11 Truth Candidate” – a Republican, John Buchanan…and as we know, since Bush was re-elected in 2004, most people had no idea of the gravity of the information found within the pages of this book!

FINAL LeBeau COMMENTS

Once you have examined this book, then fully connect all the dots as Dr.

Griffin had so methodically put together in this three-part-thesis, you may say to yourself:

WELL, WHY HASN’T THERE BEEN MORE OF A DEMAND FOR A FULL

INVESTIGATION…LIKE THE WATERGATE SCANDAL, FOR INSTANCE?

WHY HASN’T THERE BEEN A CALL FOR A REAL SPECIAL OBJECTIVE

PROSECUTOR?

Of course, unfortunately, the short answer is the hypnotic trance the MAJOR

MEDIA tries to keep us all in, neglecting to ask the really hard questions

that would make them LEGITIMATE! (Do not look behind that curtain… PLEASE!)

The longer answer can only be found when you read books like this – and BECOME AWARE of the TOTAL SITUATION! Throughout the book, Griffin cited many people who have either been stifled, terminated, prevented from getting re-elected (as Democrat Cynthia McKinney found out in the state of Georgia,) or coincidentally & conveniently were done-away-with (as in the JFK assassination,) which, unfortunately, is the DARKSIDE part of this convoluted mix.

The “NORMAL” typical reaction to these types of horrible disclosures would be characteristically one of either fear, denial…or a combination of both.

This may preclude the average person from ever considering the POSSIBILITY of a dastardly organized orchestrated plan of deceit against the very American people for whom these scoundrels serve! This is not just a conspiracy – but the mother of conspiracies, especially when you consider that they may entail “elements of” THE FBI – THE CIA – THE NSA – & NORAD, standing arm-in-arm with “elements of” the Executive Branch of our very own government [When I say “elements of” it is to suggest

strongly that not everyone involved in any or all of these agencies or

departments or branches are -IPSO FACTO – guilty of anything; in fact, the evidence suggested (especially within the FBI) that there were good soldiers who just wanted to do the right thing after smelling a potential “terrorist” rat…BUT…they themselves were thwarted by their respective commanders or bosses.

I would say – categorically – that this is MORE OF a reason (not less) to be

totally conversant with and aware of the suggested data contained within the

aforementioned pages under review. REMEMBER, the real perpetrators who were responsible for about 3000 deaths, may not wait for you to wake up before they plan their next bold step toward GLOBAL takeover – for that’s what it appears to be, based on the data provided by Dr. Griffin. The most tragic aspect of this is:

IF WE DO PROCRASTINATE, IT WILL BE OUR OWN COLLECTIVE FAULT!

I sense this urgency within the moral fibre of David Griffin. Do not turn a

“deaf“ eye” to the reading of this book. The consequences may be too grave.
