TRINITY explained FULLY

I had the occasion to listen to the below-cited link, where Walter Martin gives a lucid and full explanation regarding the mystery of the TRINITY – the Christian firm belief that there are, in fact, three persons in the one true God. The logic is impeccable if you grant that scripture is the true word of God. Below is a brief synopsis of Martin’s logic on the subject, in contradistinction to the Jehovah Witnesses understanding of the subject.

The full listening presentation is found on the below link by scrolling down to the first part of the topic entitled: “Jehovah Witnesses, Jesus Christ & the Trinity,” in which Martin’s overall theme is to show how there are three persons in the one true triune God, using very specific references (and logic that follows from these references,) which should clearly “solve” – at least the premise of this mystery, even though we cannot and will not fully understand it until we see God AS HE IS. {{This is why it is said in scripture that no one has seen God (as He is~~ IN HIS TOTALITY.}}

In any event, in EXODUS 3, God calls Himself I AM THAT I AM, which, according to Walter Martin, is another way of saying “to be to be” or always was, IS, and always will be. So the premise of a “person” speaking to another person (Moses) sets up the dynamic that is carried through scripture for the other persons in the one God.

Jesus calls Himself the I AM while discussing His nature with the Pharisees in the gospel of John (8:58,) using the same expression as the Father used with Moses, indicating His timelessness. [The Jews were ready to stone Jesus for this blasphemy, so they well knew when Jesus used the expression “I AM,” that He was telling them that He was God. ‘’The Jews, for all their faults, knew what scripture said.’’]

In 2 PETER 1:17, Martin shows that God the Father is a “person.” In the same scriptural citation, it also shows that THE SON is a “person” also, thus differentiating Father from Son. (Martin relates an interesting sidelight by showing how the Jehovah Witnesses failed to give him proof that their translation of John 8:58 (I AM,) simply means “I have been.” He tried on many an occasion to find out which Greek translators of the Jehovah Witnessses came up with this “translation,” indicating to them that there is no such a thing in Greek as the perfect indefinite tense, and therefore no such translation into Greek as “I have been.” Dr. Martin challenged this group to prove otherwise, but the Jehovah Witnesses remain silent on this issue to this very day to my knowledge, and certainly to Dr. Martin, up to the time of his passing.)

When it is stated in REVELATION 1:8, “I AM THE ALPHA AND OMEGA,” the Jehovah Witnesses “have no problem” recognizing this expression as relating to the one Jehovah God; however, Martin points out that in this same book, (22:7-13,) when it is stated, “I AM ALPHA AND OMEGA,” but we learn that it is Jesus Himself who is being identified with this statement! So we have The Son = to The Father in title!!!

In the same chapter 22, Jesus refers to Himself as “the beginning and the end,” which equates to the Greek Alpha & Omega. In Isaiah 44:6, Jehovah says,: I am the first and I am the last, and beside me there is no other.” {{PRETTY CLEAR LANGUAGE!}}

THE THIRD PERSON of the TRINITY

Yes, there is one, and it is pointed out in ACTS, chapter five. Peter, (who identified the Father,) now is engaged with a conversation with a man who is knowingly cheating God out of the money he promised Peter (via the tithe,) yet Peter says to this man that he had lied unto God, but Peter refers to God as THE HOLY SPIRIT! (You can only lie to a person, not an impersonal force.) This proves that the HOLY SPIRIT is a distinct person…and in chapter 13:2, the HOLY SPIRIT said…so, here again, we are speaking about a person!

In 1TIMOTHY 2:5, the HOLY SCRIPTURE says, There is one God. Through the above analysis, (hard as it may be to fully understand,) within this one God are three distinct persons…and this IS the only God of all and everything (Isaiah.)

{{No one has seen God (in His fullness,) for if one were to do so, that person would die since no one can see God (as He is) and live. I have learned that only with spiritual eyes and a pure heart, ONE WILL SEE GOD AS HE IS, ~ which is a promise from Jesus Himself when He enunciated the eight beatitudes.}}

This ends the “surface” mystery of THE TRINITY. It is my prayer that all who read this, listen to Walter Martin on this – and other topics crucial to Christian understanding, armed with the Bible, the holy word of God, and the Bible alone, (as we search the scriptures,) will feel confident that their searching will yield the truth about who we are, and who it IS that has created us to be happy with HIM forever and ever, AMEN.}}
